Agricultural Service Technicians

We are currently looking for Service Technicians with experience of working on and repairing Agricultural machinery to join the team at our new depot in Ashford, based in Kent.

Role Purpose:

You will be primarily responsible for the repair and maintenance of all equipment associated with Agricultural machinery sold by the company’s sales departments within its designated area. You will be working with brands such Case IH, Lemken, Hyundai, Bomag, Thwaites and many more.

Working within Ernest Doe will give you direct access to the manufactures for support and training, as well as the benefit of working with our own experienced team members.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Proven experience within the Agricultural industry would be advantageous
  • Ability to successfully carry out repairs, servicing and maintenance on agricultural equipment
  • Ability to diagnose hydraulic, mechanical and electrical faults
  • Ability to work independently using your own initiative or as part of a team
  • Ability to adhere to health and safety practices and procedures at all times
  • Complete, in full the job cards relating to work undertaken noting all details required
  • Maintain a clean, tidy service van and a clean, tidy and safe work area within the workshop
  • Good understanding of agricultural machinery or have skills which are transferrable
  • Excellent customer service skills are required as this is a customer facing role
  • Have a high work ethic standard
  • Have an eye for detail
  • Good level of IT literacy is beneficial
  • Be self-motivated
  • Full clean driver’s licence

Role Purpose

Reporting directly to the Branch & Sales Manager, you will be responsible for the sale of Agricultural Machinery, both new and used including its associated equipment in a designated area. In the main, your role involved selling to the already established customer base covered by Fulbourn, with the additional element of ‘cold calling’ in order to promote Ernest Doe and encourage new business.

You will be working with brands such as New Holland, Bednar, Lemken, Dalbo and many more.

Additional Information

  • Start Date:
    Immediate, but subject to successful candidate’s notice period
  • Hours:
    39 hours per week - 8am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am to 4pm Friday (1 hour unpaid lunch)
  • Salary:
    £Competitive, depending upon experience plus company vehicle and service incentive scheme
  • Benefits:
    32 days annual leave including bank holidays, Company Sick Pay Scheme after 6 months service, Workplace Pension after 3 months service, Staff Discount in Country Stores and Life Assurance (2 x salary)

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Good, sound knowledge of working within the Agricultural industry
  • Experience of working with Agricultural or other types of large machinery is advantageous
  • Proven sales or service experience within this industry or similar
  • Achieves Sales Performance targets as set out by direct line manager
  • Representing the Dealership and portfolio of brands to customers in defined sales area of reasonability
  • Maintains up to date product knowledge
  • Attending customer focused events
  • Excellent customer service skills both face to face and over the telephone
  • Target driven with the ability to upsell to achieve and exceed targets
  • Be self-motivated and able to work under own initiative
  • Has the ability to be influencing and persuading and able close a deal
  • Have the ability where necessary to demonstrate equipment
  • Full driving licence is required
  • Administratively organised and prepared to update CRM system daily
